SynopsisSusan B. was born in Warsaw, Poland on September 1, 1920. She describes her family, their affluent life, and their religious practices. She discusses the Jewish community. She recalls Anschluss and her parents' disbelief that anything bad could happen to them. She recalls how her brothers and fiancé fled to the Soviet zone. She describes how her fiancé arranged for a guide to take her and her sister across the border illegally to L’viv. She recalls her marriage in 1940. She describes their escape to Vilna. She describes obtaining a Japanese visa from Chiune Sugihara. Susan discusses travelling to Moscow, then Japan. She speaks about obtaining a Canadian visa in 1941 and immigrating to Vancouver. She describes the Jewish community into Vancouver and sharing her experiences.
